Around twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, generating powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Emergency response teams received 598 calls for help across the region, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both states.

Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
