19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
