Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
